What we have to share with you at St James  Church is plain and easy. We use the King James Bible and the original liturgies incorporated into the Book of Common Prayer. Occasionally we may lapse into Latin, or Greek – but we are a million miles from being papists. We simply celebrate the traditional glories of the English religious inheritance in words and music. We are not partisan. You will not find embattled protestants and catholics here. You will not find factions of any sort. I have been privileged to lead those worshipping with us in New Zealand for more than twenty years, and more recently in Australia. I really do take pride and gratitude in that we are a company of souls who are trying to serve God and love one another.

The easy-going loveliness of traditional English Christianity is here in our worship. This is supremely your church. It is the place where you can pray and sing and discuss all those things near to your heart. It is also a place of celebration and fun: tradition goes hand in hand with those things. It is also a place where you can mark all the important rites of passage in your life. Christenings – joyful, abundant, hilarious. Weddings: well, frankly there just isn’t anywhere better to be married. Then there are memorials – those placings in the hands of God our loved ones gone before – these rites are conducted with as much love and tenderness as there is in the world.

If you would seek the reassurance of Almighty God, his comfort in your life, if you look for human companionship and friendship, for welcome and a spiritual home – well, look no further: you’ve arrived.

With every blessing
